  • 1) What is therapy/counselling, and how can it help me?
A trained therapist will listen to you and help you develop a plan for addressing your emotional issues during counselling, which is a talking therapy. It offers a secure and encouraging atmosphere where you may examine your ideas, emotions, and behaviours, acquire an understanding of who you are, and create coping mechanisms to overcome challenges and advance personally.
  • 2) How do I know if I need therapy/counselling?
Anyone encountering difficulties, emotional distress, or looking to advance personally can benefit from therapy or counselling. It can be anyone, including myself. Consistent feelings of depression or worry, trouble managing stress, strained relationships, significant life transitions, low self-esteem, or a desire for personal growth are common indicators that counselling may be beneficial.
  • What can I expect during a therapy/counselling session?
You can expect a warm, non-judgmental, and confidential space to share your thoughts and feelings. The therapist/counsellor will actively listen, ask questions, and provide guidance and support. Together, you will explore your concerns, set goals, and work towards positive change. Sessions may include a combination of talking, reflection, and skill-building exercises.
  • Is therapy completely confidential?
Yes, counselling is confidential, ensuring the client's and counsellor's privacy and trust. However, if the counsellor sees the client may be self-inflicting, causing a threat to life, or going through any abuse, in such cases, it would be discussed with the concerned person after informing the client. The information about the emergency contact would be taken at the beginning of the session.
  • How long does therapy/counselling typically last?
The duration of therapy/counselling varies based on individual needs and goals. For example, some may require just one session & another person may require 4 or 5. It depends on many factors. You, as a client, can make your choice.
  • Can I mention any topic during counselling?
Yes, during counselling, you are allowed to discuss any subject that is significant to you. You can talk about various personal, emotional, and relationship issues in counselling since it is a secure and non-judgmental environment. Your counsellor is available to support you and guide you as you go through different problems.
  • 7) Can counselling be beneficial even if I don't have a specific problem?
Absolutely! Counselling is not just for people with specific issues or conditions. It can help with self-development, self-discovery, and general well-being. Counselling provides an opportunity to gain understanding, grow in self-awareness, and improve your capacity to deal with challenges in life.
  • How much does counselling cost?
The cost of counselling can vary depending on factors like the counselling type and duration of counselling.
  • 9) Will my therapist prescribe medicines?
